I’m obsessing on a blues mandolin-banjo player named Charlie McCoy. Here are three tunes of his from Archive.org.
Charlie McCoy and Bo Chatman – Corrina Corrina
Charlie McCoy – Baltimore Blues
Papa Charlie – Coal Man Blues (misattributed as “Jackson” instead of “McCoy”)
I got a call 5-8 years ago from MS Blues Commission to work of some of Charlie and Jo’s songs for an unveiling of a Blues Marker in Raymond,MS. I spent a good bit of time with these fellows. Since then, I’ve held them in the highest regard. I also met a fellow who said they lived with his Grandmother when they were growing up. He barely remembered them.
Keep me posted,
Sherman Lee Dillon
Glad you stopped by, Sherman.
What was the nature of your work? Did you play them?
