I have a new source of historical sheet music: odin.indstate.edu. It’s not large or well organized, but it does have stuff that nobody else does, and it does have the real music stuff and not just the covers, so I have added it to my custom search engine for public domain sheet music.
thanks! this is a great feature of this site.
This really needs to be a collaborative project, like a wiki…
You know, a public domain or CC BY wiki where people post links to free and legal sheet is a good idea. I’d post to it. Perhaps it would have two “streams”–posts about where the music is and posts of conversational interest.
or perhaps it is a “true wiki” in which terms have meanings and such 🙂
speaking wiki-ishly, I just found
Musopen, a new non-profit which mutopia-like-ishly provides classical PD sheet music:

I have added musopen to the list of sites in the index.
